All of the changes were based on your feedback.
We think it’s a great example of our Single A theme in action. We especially like their use of Single A’s sticky post and featured tag.

We’re liking Mr. B’s use of our Single A theme to keep students and parents of his 6th grade class up-to-date with homework assignments, classroom news, and other noteworthy notes and pictures. He’s taken advantage of our sticky post feature, which allows him to “stick” the latest homework assignment at the top the of page, so it’s the first thing visitors see when they come to the blog. We only wish our 6th grade teachers had been so savvy. Stay cool, Mr. B!

How are you using Single A? We want to know!

What social media sites would you like us to add in the next version of Single A?

What social media sites would you like us to add in the next version of Single A?

Single A Tumblr Theme

Version 1.3.1—GET IT HERE!

The Single A tumblr theme introduces two new features not available on any other Tumblr themethe sticky post and featured tag.

Sticky Post
With Single A you have the ability to “stick” one post at the top of your blog regardless of the date and time of the post.

Let’s say you always want to display at the top of your blog:

An “About Me” post

Your most recent original long-form blog post

An introductory video

A quote that you live by, or

An advertisement

The sticky post feature allows you to do any of these things. With the sticky tag you can highlight whatever you want in your blog’s top spot.

Here’s how you set it up: In the appearance options, define the sticky tag and use that tag on the post that you would like to always display at the top of your blog. The most recent blog post with the sticky tag will always appear at the top.

Featured Tag
The featured tag enables you to display the five most recent posts of a specific tag in the right sidebar. Similar in layout to the Likes display, the featured tag display allows bloggers to display their five most recent original articles, musicians or music lovers to display their five most recent audio tracks, or photographers to display their five most recent photographs. In short, it’s designed to give you an opportunity to highlight your featured posts long after they have fallen off the first page of your blog.

To enable the featured tag, all you have to do within the appearance options is:

Insert a tag in the featured tag text box

Use that tag on at least one post

Define the label for the featured heading

The sticky post and featured tag are just two of the many features that Single A offers. You can add social media links; control the color of several styles; upload a custom logo or image; display likes, recent tweets, and group blog features; and incorporate the Disqus commenting platform and Google Analytics.

Title Color
This sets the color of your blog title, the background color of post icons, and the color of link post titles, text post titles, chat post titles, and song titles of audio posts.

Link Color
This sets the color for your links within your posts and blog description. It’s also the color of social media icons and the hover color for navigation links, header links, and post footers.

Accent Background Color
This sets the background color of the footer as well as the background color for tag and search result headlines.

Accent Color
This sets the color of the text in the blog’s footer as well as the text color for the tag and search result headlines.

exfm Body, exfm Display, exfm Font, exfm Playlist
These set the color options for the exfm music player (if you have it enabled).

Logo Image
You can use the browse button here to upload a custom image or logo that will link to the home page of your blog. The ideal size is 295 pixels in width; images with a width greater than 295 pixels will be scaled to fit the space. An image with a width less than 295 pixels will automatically center align to preserve its quality.

Show Blog Title
Checking this box will display your blog title in the sidebar.

Show Home Link
Checking this box will display a link to the blog’s home page in the navigation menu.

Show Group Features
Checking this box will post a list of contributing authors in the sidebar and will display the author’s Tumblr username in each post.

Show Likes
Checking this box will display your last five “liked” posts in the sidebar.

Show Blogs I Follow
Checking this box will display icons of the blogs you follow in the sidebar.

Show Social Network Icons
Checking this box will display the social network icons you’ve provided URLs for (e.g., Email, About.me, Dribbble, ex.fm, Facebook, Flickr, Foursquare, GitHub, Google+, Instagram, Lastfm, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Rdio, SoundCloud, Spotify, Twitter, Vimeo, YouTube, and/or Website).

Show Sharing Features
Checking this box will display buttons to share your posts on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Google+, and Tumblr. The Tumblr button will only be displayed at the bottom of permalink posts. The Pinterest button will only be displayed on photo posts (not photoset posts though) and audio posts with album art.

Featured Tag
Enter the name of the tag you would like to use to enable this feature. For example, if you enter “fave” here, anytime you tag a post “fave” it will show up in your featured posts.

Featured Heading
Enter the heading you’d like to use for your featured posts. You might, for example, use the heading “Featured Posts” or “Fave Posts” or “Posts I Dig.” Whatever you enter here will appear at the top of the posts you are featuring in the sidebar.

Group Heading
Enter the heading you’d like to display over your contributing authors in the sidebar. You could, for example, use “Contributing Authors” or “Folks Who Make This Blog Happen” or “Our Peeps.” Whatever you enter here will appear at the top of the author name/icons in the sidebar.

Likes Heading
If you have checked Show Likes, you can enter the heading of the “likes list” in the sidebar (e.g., “Posts I like”).

Following Heading If you have enabled Show Blogs I Follow (above), enter the heading you would like to appear above the display of blogs icons (e.g., “Who I Follow).

Disqus Shortname
If you use Disqus, this is the “shortname” you designated for your blog when setting up your account.

GA Tracking ID
This is your Google Analytics site ID (e.g., UA-XXXXXX-X).

Twitter Username
In order to display your five most recent tweets, enter your Twitter username here. For example, businessbullpen (not @businessbullpen and not Twitter.com/businessbullpen). Please note the Twitter account must be publicly available. Protected accounts are not authenticated.

Social Media URLs
Single A Theme will display the logos and link to the following social media sites: exfm, Facebook, Flickr, Lastfm, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Rdio, SoundCloud, Twitter, Vimeo, and YouTube.

More about the Sticky Post
If you use the sticky post feature, there are a few subtle differences in the appearance of the post.

The theme will not display the sticky post twice on your blog. It will only appear at the top of your blog.

The sticky post icon is a thumb tack. This post icon is also used for pages.

The sticky post footer background is a darker gray than all other post footers.

Thank you for visiting the Single A Tumblr Theme site.
Making Good is a series, of three minute documentary profiles, that pulls from the wide variety of people who make up the communities around us. As a whole, these pieces come together to represent the diverse range of passionate doers and creators that influence our daily lives. Individually, these pieces are reflections of those influencers as they share about the processes and impact of their work. Each piece is a brief look into the ideas and emotions that guide people who are doing the work they love, or “Making Good.”

Casey Shea spent a handful of years fronting rock bands in Tallahassee and Nashville before setting out for New York City in January of 2004 to focus on a solo career. A gifted performer with undeniable charm, Casey delivers his songs in a unique way that earns him an audience’s devotion. Think Bill Murray meets John Lennon.

Casey Shea was also my next-door neighbor when we were growing up in the 80s and 90s.

Business Bullpen is using the Single A theme as a group blog. You can click the image to view how group features are displayed.

Business Bullpen is using the sticky post to display their most recent original blog post, which comes in handy since they reblog content frequently. With any other theme, the reblogs would push their original posts below the fold on to a previous page. The sticky post allows Business Bullpen to stick their original content on the first page for a longer period of time.
